1 down, 2 to go...

So one weekend of 'Audacity' is over. It went well... no major disasters. just a set which was was not quite what I expected but which was remedied by some lovely people quite quickly (thanks, lovely people); a quick crash course in lighting design by Chris Gatt, who laughed at my ignorance (in the nicest of ways) and who taught me a lot; a number of sound cue cd's which refused to work so my executive producer (yo wes!) had to make what seemed like 1 million copies; a screaming fit (the first one!) from the director (ie) me after a rather disastrous tech/dress rehearsal where my notes were longer than the play itself; some fluffing of lines and pieces of set being knocked over on first night - all stuff which I guess is to be expected.

But the feedback has been mainly very positive from the people who have watched the first weekend and I must say I am pleased with us, especially since I think we made miracles with some bits of the play. Yay us! Roll on the next two weekends...

'Audacity' booking now open!

The MADC's first production at St James Cavalier for 2007 is Simon Maudsley's comedy-thriller 'Audacity' to be held at on the 26 - 28 January, 2 – 4 and 9 - 11 February.

Embittered and struggling to make ends meet while going through a messy divorce, Phil schemes up an audacious plan to hold up a popular department store of their pre-Christmas takings with the reluctant help of two fellow salesmen. With the reluctant help of two fellow salesmen who are also facing financial problems, the unlikely trio meet in a run-down bed-sit to rehearse and plan the most exciting thing they've done in their lives. Problems develop however, when the wives of two of the men get together to investigate their husbands' unusual behaviour. Tension and laughs run high as the play comes to an unpredictable end.

'Audacity' is directed by Coryse Borg and the cast is made up of Michael Zammit Maempel, Malcolm Galea, Jean-Marc Agius, Julia Calvert and Greta Agius. Tickets at Lm 5.00 (except first night at Lm 3.50) may be purchased from the St James Cavalier Booking Office, tel. no: 21 223200 and email: boxoffice@sjcav.org.

Viva Las London!

What a blast I had... London is amazing. So much to see and do. I'd forgotten how I enjoy holidaying there. This time, highlights (apart from seeing the hubby after a month apart of course!) included - in no particular order:

1. Watching
Avenue Q. Oh my god, it is sooooooooooooo laugh-out-loud funny. One of the best shows I have ever seen. The set, the puppets, the actors, the singing, the songs the rudeness of it all hehe! I really want us to do it here in Malta!

2. Shopping -
Primark rules! Brilliant shop were you can find practically anything. High street store opening in Spring. Will definately be there hehe! Bought so much stuff - shoes. pj's, tops, jacket... too many things to mention! And Boots, I love Boots *sigh*

3.
Starbucks. Yum! Toffee nut latte is the yummiest. You heard it here first.

4. Watching
'Wicked'. simply put - I loved it. Amazing cast and set and music.

5.
New Years Eve spent with Sha (initially), P, the 2 Chrisses and Mich. The setting (fireworks at the London Eye) was amazing but the company was even better! Yay friends!

6. Spending the day at the Tate. And especially, speeding down the slides which make up the Unilever Series - twice! What fun!

7. Watching 'Dick Whittington' written by Mark Ravenhill who also wrote 'Some Explicit Polaroids'. What FUN! At one point, the main cast drenched the audience with water hoses/pistols. I don't think I've ever laughed so much! It would never happen at the Manoel hehe!

8. Meeting the man himself, Mark Ravenhill, at 'Peter Pan', a panto that our friend Tom Camilleri was in. Yay Tom btw! And then watching Ravenhill sing the panto song sheet 'How much is the doggy in the window' with the rest of the audience - how sweet! It was really cool to talk to him, although I think we kinda overwhelmed him with our joie-de-vivre and excitement at meeting him hehe!

Anyway, London, I'll be back! And soon. Besides, I want to watch 'Spamalot' and so much more. Better start saving now...
